KADCA presented a cheque for €5250 to Our Lady's Children’s Hospital, Crumlin on Tuesday 8th of December.  A big thanks to everyone who showed up on the night.

On behalf of Our Lady’s Children's Hospital and KADCA Badminton Club, we would like to express our gratitude to everyone who helped organise the event and for all the fundraising, to those who made a donation and finally a special thanks to Curam Software, the main sponsor.  It really is amazing to see such huge generosity especially in the current economic climate.

Have a great 2010!

The 2nd Kadca Annual Charity Open in aid of Crumlin’s Children’s Hospital sponsored by Curam Software kicked off at 10am on 24th October. Despite the early start  we had just over 100 entrants in 3grades.

With music playing in the background all day we saw some very “fancy footwork” on court (Caroline Oliver must get a special mention here!!)

All 8 courts were constantly on the go and there was a great buzz in the hall. By lunchtime the doubles competition had come to an end and after some long and hard fought finals the presentation of prizes and a very bumper raffle with some excellent prizes took place. We were also very lucky to have Marian Rooney from Curam Software say a few words!

The mixed started in the afternoon and it was great to see so many people from different clubs pair up and play together in the spirit of fun and for such a good cause!

Overall it was a hugely successful event. Congratulations to the Kadca Committee and club members who organised a great days Badminton and raised €5200 for Crumlin’s Children’s Hospital.

A very big Thankyou to Curam Software, all the Companies that sponsored an individual event, Badminton Ireland, everyone that donated spot prizes and money online, to everyone who entered the tournament, bought raffle tickets, to all the clubs that advertised our tournament and a very special thankyou must go to Caryn Elmes, Caitriona Farrell, Judith Kinsella, Sandra Lynch, Keiran Maher, Sabrina Keenan, Keith O’ Sullivan, Norma Mc Intyre and Crona Rooney who helped make the tournament run extremely smoothly on the day!

The presentation of the cheque will take place on Tuesday 8th December at 7.45pm in Baldoyle. A representative from the hospital will be there to say a few words. Everyone is welcome, just send a text to 086 3711600 or email kadcabc@googlemail.com so we have an idea of numbers!

Hello,

Hope the Halloween weekend was enjoyed by all!

The final fixtures sheet has been posted up and can be viewed on the Fixtures page.  I will be mainly using the KADCA website and the notice board in the hall to keep you informed throughout the season so check these regularly if you can.

Also to remind everyone to keep an eye out for text messages from Teamer and please make sure you respond immediately replying with Y if can play the match or N if you can’t.  This is really important because (a) I need to know if the match is going ahead and (b) so I can notify the subs, if they are needed.

Thanks for your help and if you have any questions please feel free to contact me or anyone else on the committee.

The photos page has been updated to allow you to filter the photos by the tags assigned to them.  Our collection of photos was getting pretty large, and needed some sorting out, and tagging is definitely the way to go.

When you're uploading photos, you can add both existing and new tags to your photos.

When viewing pictures, just select the tag you want to filter on from the drop down box. Then whoooshh, it's filtered using the combines magic powers of Ajax and Flickr's Service API (ignore that last sentence if you're not a nerd)

Hey Guys......just a little reminder about Gormanstown. It's played on the 29th and 30th of Nov. It's a team event, there'll be a couple of different divisions but how many teams we enter will depend on the number of people who put themselves forward for selection. The closing date for entries is 14th Nov so let us know ASAP if you'd like to play!!

Well some of the committee have done a bit of research since then into different Chrimbo parties and we've finally decided on one. We're going to the laughter lounge on the 13th December, tickets are €79 each. The night starts at 6 with a 3 course meal in Tante Zoe, we will be collected from there at 730 and brought to the laughter lounge. We'll be seated by 815 and the show starts at 830, there'll be 3different comedians on. There will be full waitress service throughout the show!! It finishes about 11.15 and we'll then go to the after lounge nightclub where we can dance the night away to DJ Toby Sinclair. So if you'd like to go please contact Suzy or myself.......a €40 deposit will secure your ticket, you can of course pay in full if you prefer!!

Folks,

Due to league semi's and finals being played at Baldoyle over the next while, we will not have courts for club play until our last night on 17th April.

The committee apologises for the lack of notice to all members, and hopes that not too many of you were put out after turning up last night hoping to get a game! I was one that did....

Thanks,
Ben.

Hi folks,

Just a quick note to let you know the KADCA AGM will take place at the hall on Monday 21st April @ 8pm. As well as a general review of the year, we will have reports from Ber on the finances, Dave will provide a summary of competitions for the season, and Ron will let us know whats happening 'behind the scenes' with the Leinster branch. We will also be nominating and voting in committee members for next season, so everyone is able to contribute, even just by being there and voting.

If you have any comments/feedback you would like aired, please let me know beforehand, and this can be confidential at your request. I will circulate an agenda when I have one (likely 5 minutes before the meeting, but hopefully a little earlier!)

Please make an effort to be there, the club can't run without the input of its members and it's been a tough year for the committee as we haven't had a chairperson to keep us in check! The meeting should last about an hour, so won't take up too much Monday night telly watching time. If you will be unavoidaly absent, please send 'apologies'.

Cheers,
Ben
